Caymanensis was founded to respond to the increasing demand for environmental consulting services in the Cayman Islands and the need for Caymanian traditional environmental knowledge to be incorporated into local projects. Established by multigenerational Caymanian Hannah Reid Ford, Caymanensis is uniquely positioned to support a range of projects, products and services with local knowledge and world-class expertise.

Hannah Reid Ford
Caymanensis founder Hannah Reid Ford is currently pursuing a PhD in Ethnobiology from the University of Kent. She has an MSc in Environment, Science & Society from University College London, and a BA in Environmental Studies and Journalism from Emory University.
Hannah has over a decade of experience in the public service and private sector, and a lifetime of familiarity with Cayman’s natural environment across all three islands. She has presented at numerous academic and industry conferences on her ongoing research into Caymanian traditional environmental knowledge.
She has helped document two new plant records for the Cayman Islands and discovered the only specimen of the critically endangered Aegiphila caymensis known to exist in West Bay.
In 2025, Hannah was selected to participate in the Global Course on More Than Human Rights facilitated by New York University (London), achieving a certification in this emerging field of nature law.
Hannah has served on numerous charitable boards, including the National Trust for the Cayman Islands as both an elected member and appointed official.
Hannah is a member of the Society for Ethnobiology, the Society for Ethnobotany and the British Ecological Society.
